What is a Home Information Pack? (HIP)

A Home Information Pack (HIP) is a compulsory requirement for a seller of a residential property with 4 or more bedrooms in England and Wales as from 1st August 2007. This was extended to properties with 3 bedrooms from 10th September 2007.

Eventually all properties marketed for sale in England and Wales will require a HIP. It must be made available to an interested Buyer, and a property will not be able to be marketed for sale unless a HIP is available (subject to certain exceptions).
